Method and limits
Traditional culture and self-reflection only — not scientific prediction, and not a basis for medical, financial, legal or major life decisions.
Privacy and use
No name, account or email required. Birth details remain in page memory and are removed on clear or reload. They are not stored or added to URLs. Only language preference is saved locally. The site is funded by ads: pages load Adsterra ads in an isolated frame, and Adsterra and its partners may receive your IP and browser information and use cookies for ad delivery and measurement (privacy policy: https://adsterra.com/privacy-policy/). The ad frame cannot read this page, and we never provide birth details or charts to advertisers. Pages also load an Adsterra popunder (clicking the page may open an ad tab in the background, frequency-capped per visitor) and a Social Bar (a corner overlay). These two scripts run on the page itself: we do not deliberately provide birth details or charts to advertisers, but we cannot prevent a third-party script from reading the page; use your browser's ad blocking if this concerns you. Each move to another page is a full page load. Visitors in the EEA, UK or Switzerland must agree before ads load. No analytics or external AI requests are enabled. You can refuse ads with your browser's ad or cookie blocking; the tools keep working.
About this tool
Direction has two layers. First, Eight Mansions: your birth year and gender give a personal gua (East group or West group) and four auspicious directions (Life Force, Heavenly Doctor, Longevity, Stillness) and four inauspicious ones. Second, the annual Nine Palaces flying stars, which move through the eight directions and the center in a fixed order each year.
The gua uses the Lichun-based birth year: males (100 − last two digits; 99 after 2000), females (last two digits − 4; +6 after 2000), mod 9; a remainder of 5 becomes 2 for males and 8 for females. Annual stars follow the forward flight of Period 9 (2024–2043). With a birth date it also lists the directions that match your helpful elements.
FAQ
What are East and West group people?
Traditionally East group (Kan, Li, Zhen, Xun) favors east, south, north and southeast; West group (Qian, Kun, Gen, Dui) favors west, northwest, southwest and northeast — used as a reference for bed, desk and door facing.
What about the 5 Yellow and 2 Black?
Tradition says avoid digging, heavy objects and clutter there and keep it quiet. This page only shows positions; it does not recommend paid remedies.
When do flying stars change year?
Traditionally at Lichun. This page shows the whole selected year; mind the days around Lichun.
Can I use it without a birth date?
Yes — flying stars alone need neither a birth date nor gender.
