Calculation rules
Four Pillars uses Beginning of Spring for the year and solar terms for months. The selected day boundary applies. Zi Wei uses iztro default stars, lunar New Year, and adjusted leap months: days 1–15 use the current month, later days the next. Schools may differ. Engines: lunar-javascript and iztro.
Privacy and use
No name, account or email required. Birth details remain in page memory and are removed on clear or reload. They are not stored or added to URLs. Only language preference is saved locally. The site is funded by ads: pages load Adsterra ads in an isolated frame, and Adsterra and its partners may receive your IP and browser information and use cookies for ad delivery and measurement (privacy policy: https://adsterra.com/privacy-policy/). The ad frame cannot read this page, and we never provide birth details or charts to advertisers. Visitors in the EEA, UK or Switzerland must agree before ads load. No analytics or external AI requests are enabled. You can refuse ads with your browser's ad or cookie blocking; the tools keep working.
About this tool
Zi Wei Dou Shu (Purple Star Astrology) places the Life Palace, Body Palace and twelve palaces from the lunar birth date and hour, then distributes the fourteen major stars and supporting stars. Decade periods and annual charts show change over time.
This tool uses the default rules of the open-source iztro library to show stars in each palace, decade age ranges, and the palaces and Four Transformations for the current decade and year. Notes describe structure, not predictions.
FAQ
Do I need my birth time for Zi Wei Dou Shu?
Yes. The Life Palace depends on the birth hour, so a Zi Wei chart cannot be drawn without it. The BaZi tool can still give three pillars without a birth time.
Why does the chart ask for sex?
Traditional rules use the yin/yang of the birth year together with sex to decide whether decade periods move forward or backward.
How are leap-month births handled?
Days 1–15 of a leap month use the current month; day 16 onward uses the next month.
Why does my chart differ from other sites?
Leap-month handling, the late-Zi day boundary and star placement conventions vary by school. The rules used here are listed on the Method and limits page.
